Ash Wednesday is a marker in the liturgical church year that we are entering the season of Lent, a time to slow down and consider Jesus’ life and passion. This year’s Lenten theme is RELENT, and on Ash Wednesday, we gather as a community to hear scripture, join in confession, and to hear the words, “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” We hear these words reminding each of us of our own humanity and mortality.
