WORSHIP and hospitality
Community members jump in to help every Sunday and Wednesday as part of our weekly worship and hospitality teams. There are opportunities for all ages and absolutely no experience is necessary to engage in this important ministry.
THE WORSHIP TEAMS
Join one of our teams and serve on a monthly basis! (e.g. second Sunday usher team, third Wednesday greeters.)
Acolytes assist with the children's offering as well as communion by making sure servers have wine trays and bread. They may light or extinguish candles on occasion.
Read the appointed scripture lesson during worship.
Early Team: Before 9am service - fill trays for both Sunday services with wine/juice and set on altar, set out baskets, bowls with crackers on wire stands around the chancel area, make sure chalice and plate are on altar. Help change trays and baskets after 9am service.
Late Team: After 10:45am service - remove trays and left over bread from altar, baskets and bowls from wire stands, clean up sacristy. Place new cups in trays for Wednesday.
Welcome all who gather with greetings and bulletins. Light or extinguish candles in worship center if not already done, hand out bulletins before service begins, monitor doors to worship center, assist with questions, collect/count offering, direct congregation up for communion, go through pews after service and collect any items left behind.
Assist with serving wine / bread during worship at an appointed service.
Welcome all with your presence and a smile, answer questions, give directions.
coffee and DONUTS team
Welcome all with a smile. Coffee & donuts set up and clean up in various locations as needed.
Music is a big part of Mount Olivet's worship and community experiences. All our worship services are led by outstanding groups of musicians, whether it's our Organist and Chancel Choir or one of our contemporary worship bands.
We host benefit concerts throughout the year through our Higher Grounds music series, featuring well-known Twin Cities musicians and bands.
The Music Teams
Made up of adults of all ages and musical abilities, the Chancel Choir sings regularly for 9 a.m. Sunday worship, occasionally for 10:45 a.m. worship, and for special holiday services.
The Choir anchors the annual Advent Concert, held the second weekend of December. Rehearsals on Wednesday evenings from 7- 8:15p.m. No audition is required and new members are always welcome!
The REJOICE! Children's choir shares their musical gifts during Holy Week in the spring, and several times during Advent season. We rehearse on Sundays at 10am and welcome 2nd through 5th graders.
Our Gathering Team is an auditioned ensemble that leads the 10:45am worship service, made up of a combination of amateur and professional musicians.
The Oasis Band is another auditioned ensemble that leads the 6pm Wednesday worship service playing a mix of current contemporary music.
The Bell Choir plays shares their musical gifts during the Advent & Easter seasons. Rehearsals are on Sundays at noon and begin 6 weeks prior to each performance.
