Parent Connect Film Series: Miss Representation

PARENT CONNECT FILM SERIES
Thursday, April 12 & 19 // 6:30-8:30pm // Worship Center

Raising children is a dynamic process of understanding gender stereotypes, societal norms, and the role the world plays in influencing young people. Mount Olivet is sponsoring the showing of two films looking at the nature of raising young people.

APRIL 12: MISS REPRESENTATION
This film draws back a curtain to reveal a glaring reality we live with every day but fail to see - how the media's limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls makes it difficult for women to feel powerful and achieve leadership positions.

APRIL 19: THE MASK YOU LIVE IN
This film follows boys and young men as they struggle to stay true to themselves while negotiating America's narrow definition of masculinity.

Both movies are powerful and provocative in image and language. They are rated TV-14 so would be appropriate for upper middle school age through high school. To view previews go here and click on "Films." Please contact Pete Erickson (perickson@moply.org) if you have any questions.
